Xminder API - SMS Module FAQ

What coverage can I expect?

Xminder SMS API supports all U.S. and Canadian carriers and provides coverage worldwide.

Does Xminder SMS support 2-way communication?

Yes. You can send messages from long numbers with the option to receive response messages.

How many text messages can I send ?

You can send up to 1500 messages per minute.

How reliable is the SMS Gateway?

Xminder SMS has a 100% uptime guarantee. Xminder's data centers are engineered with multiple levels of security, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), redundant HVAC systems, and fire suppression, as well as 24 X 7 monitoring and management.

Where can I download Xminder SMS Software?

Xminder SMS is a web based application and is not downloadable.
To implement the API into your application, programming by a developer is required.

Do you support email to text message?

No. Also, Xminder SMS API does not support sending or receiving MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service).

How long does it take to deliver a text message?

Xminder SMS API response times are in the low millisecond range. However, as soon as the message is sent to the carrier, delivery and response times will vary from a few seconds to a few minutes, dependent upon the carrier and their network.

Can you guarantee delivery of every text message?

No. Deliverability is dependent upon the carrier and their network.

Do you support short codes?

No. Xminder SMS API sends messages from a pool of long numbers. The advantage is dependability and cost. With long number messaging there is no fear of mobile carriers deactivating a short code, and there are no premium fees. You can give your application the ability to receive Mobile Originated (MO) SMS (incoming SMS) with dedicated long numbers.

What are the main differences between long numbers and short codes?

Both long numbers (i.e. 757-544-9510) and short codes (i.e. 75195) are methods for receiving inbound and sending outbound SMS text messages.
Long numbers are internationally available. Short codes are limited to national borders and have to be activated in each country where an SMS campaign will take place.

How long does it take to start using a dedicated long number?

It can only take a few minutes to order and assign a dedicated long number to your Xminder SMS API license key.

Do I need to pre-pay to use your services?

No. Subscribe for your Xminder SMS account. You will not be charged for administration fees in the first 30 days. Also, you will beneficiate of 100 cents free credit for trial. After you have consumed your initial credit, you can add some more, directly on your interface using your credit card.

How much does Xminder SMS cost?

We do not require a contract and there are no start-up or cancellation fees. The price per sms can differ, taking into consideration the destination and the number of sms you have sent in a month.

Can I purchase a dedicated long number to send and receive SMS messages?


How do I get started with Xminder SMS? How about the Xminder API?

Sign up online for an account to receive your sms account. Upon receipt of your account information, you will be contacted to verify the account for releasing the activation key for your API.

Are there any overage fees, hidden fees? Am I required to sign a contract?

No. You will only be charged for what you consume: SMS services and administration fees. Contracts are not required to sign up for an account.

What is a transaction?

A transaction represents each message that is sent or received through our SMS Gateway.

Do I pay for text messages that are not received?

Yes. Each message sent through our SMS Gateway is charged as one transaction.

Do you charge for response messaging?


What is the length of a single SMS? What happens if my message exceeds the limit?

A standard text message is limited to 160 characters (including letters, numbers, spaces, symbols and punctuation). Xminder SMS Api will automatically break up the message and send it in separate messages with a maximum total length of 918 characters (maximum 6 concatenated messages). Each message sent will count as a transaction.

Can I configure the sending number or does it have to be whatever number you provide?

No. The sending number is generated from a pool of long numbers used to send out the SMS message. Xminder SMS API provides a random number for sending text messages.

Are STOP features built in?

Yes. An end user can opt-out by replying with the text message: STOP. This will block their number from receiving future messages.
